The Governing Board of the San Francisco Bay Restoration Authority approved grants at their meeting on May 3, 2024 to fund Phase 2 for four ongoing projects.  The new funding will allow the projects to move from initial planning stages closer to implementation. 

Today, the Governing Board of the San Francisco Bay Restoration Authority approved funding for two projects, including one Community Grant.

The projects are:

The Governing Board of the San Francisco Bay Restoration Authority authorized disbursement of to $3,000,000 to the Contra Costa County Flood Control and Water Conservation District (the District) to augment the grant of $7,929,855 previously authorized by the Authority on December 6, 2019.

On December 13, the South Bay Salt Pond Restoration Project partners and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service opened a 300-acre former industrial salt pond to the Bay with a celebration marking the 20th anniversary of their joint restoration venture. This major milestone event is part of an ambitious 50-year effort to restore 15,000 acres of historic wetlands to tidal marsh and other habitats.
